Caring for the San Antonio Bike Share community

The health and safety of the SA Bike Share community is our top priority. With recent news around coronavirus (COVID-19), we know you may have questions about how we can all do our part to keep the community healthy. We want to share the actions we are taking to help protect you — and what you can do to help.

San Antonio Bike Share has taken steps to protect the health and safety of our employees and riders with increased efforts to sanitize equipment and frequent communications about proper hygiene practices. We are closely monitoring the official guidelines posted by the City of San Antonio.

During a time in which social distancing is recommended, SA BikeShare will remain open as a single-person and small group transportation option. If there is an official declaration that prohibits cycling or outdoor activities, SA BikeShare is prepared to suspend our bike share service. Until then, we will continue our increased sanitation measures and constantly urge our riders to wash their hands before and after each ride.

Measures being taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19:

  • Cleaning bikes with a germ-killing disinfectant
  • Disinfecting frequently touched areas of stations
  • Sanitizing all equipment and tools
  • Wearing gloves when touching bike and station equipment
  • Enforcing strict personal hygiene practices among SA BikeShare personnel
  • Encouraging SA BikeShare riders to wash hands before and after riding and to use the BCycle app to check out bikes when possible
  • Continuing to monitor the latest updates from public health officials

While we will continue to take the measures listed above, we need each and every rider's help during this time. Follow CDC guidelines for practicing good hygiene before and after every BCycle trip by washing your hands with soap and hot water or using a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
