Celebrate the first day of spring on a pedal assist BCycle ride that will raise funds to support the San Antonio River Foundation.  San Antonio River Authority and the San Antonio River Foundation are leading a 16 mile ride along the San Antonio river that is guaranteed to increase your love for our city.

On this ride we will visit the four Art Portals commissioned by the San Antonio River Foundation along the Mission Reach.  Each Art Portal was designed to bring you up from the riverwalk and connect you to one of our four World Heritage Spanish Missions.

San Antonio River Foundation Executive Director, Frates Seeligson and Special Events Coordinator, Albert S. Carmona will provide narratives on each art portal’s design. In addition, Lee Marlowe, Sustainable Landscape Ecologist for the San Antonio River Authority will help us discover our river by indulging us with fun facts highlighting the ecosystem surrounding each Art Portal.

Your $25 REGISTRATION FEE includes a tamale break under the branches of Árbol de La Vida by Mission San Juan, a BCycle to ride and a #SABCycle Month Pass so you may continue your river exploration journey.

In addition, your $25 REGISTRATION FEE is a DONATION to the San Antonio River Foundation, whose mission is to enhance the San Antonio River Basin as a vibrant cultural, educational, ecological, and recreational experience.  So, not only will you leave this ride with a tummy full of tamales and a mind bursting with new nature information, but you’ll leave this ride knowing you donated to the foundation that has provided us a beautiful bike path.

This is a 16-mile ride so, everyone will be required to use a pedal assist SA BCycle. Keep in mind, the pedal assist option can be turned on or off which is great for keeping the group ride together.  Pedal assist can flatten out hills and diminish wind resistance, which in turn opens a secret portal that allows you to have more fun on this ride.

If at any point a rider wishes to opt out of the ride, there is a San Antonio Bike Share docking station at each Art Portal along with a Via Bus Stop.

In the state of Texas, you are not legally required to wear a helmet.  You can rent a helmet from Blue Star Bike Shop for $8.
